Blue Carabao Eatery
A few days ago, hubby and I wanted to go on a simple food trip at this eatery that we used to eat before years ago since I want to eat on a budget.
I am still amazed that there are still a lot of customers dining until this day from local to tourists and even foreigners – American, Japanese, Korean dining at this eatery owned by Francis and Sherry Scott. It is located at along Sobrecarey Street, Obrero, Davao City. It is in front of Cake Temptations. Coming from Bajada walk from Inigo Street where you can find Conpinco/Mama Maria’s and Chicco di Caffe towards Obrero then turn left when you reach Sobrecarey Street. You will find this eatery…
Blue Carabao Eatery’s giniling and chicken curry
They serve affordable and good tasting food.
and they have one of hubby’s fave viand…
If you are on a budget, this place can be a choice of a place to eat.
Hello,thanx for your review of the Blue Carabao Eatery.Great pictures.Sherry and I started the Blue Carabao 5 years ago.It’s main purpose was to create jobs for Filipinos,full time jobs with benefits and 30 employees now benefit from the Blue Carabao.
As of May 16/2011 the “Blue Carabao Eatery” will be closing it’s doors permanently. Why? Because we have been hit with a space rent increase of 100%.We now pay a total of P24,000 for four spaces,but as of June 1/2011,that will increase to P48,000. We cannot pay the wage and benefits to our staff and offer our food at affordable prices and absorb such a huge cost in rent.
We could fight this as it is an illegal rent increase as the law allows only an increase of 10% per year but we have no desire to waste our funds and valuable time on lawyers and the court system.
As a foreigner who supported my wife’s desire to help her fellow Filipinos, i am saddened by these turn of events as now people will loose their jobs.This will also have a negative impact on the community and other businesses that rely on the Blue Carabao Eatery.
This all boils down to a case of in your face greed which we will not support or be a slave too. Even if that space was offered to us for free,we would not take it as we do not do business with greedy or dishonest people,never have,never will.
To all the customers who rely on us for clean,safe,affordable food we apologize, we have been left with no choice.
We will still be operating from our newest location of the “Blue Carabao” down on Monteverde St,at the corner of Alvarez,right across from the Davao City Fire Department, very close to Magsaysay Park. Just look for the big blue colored building and the sign that says “Blue Carabao Diner” and there you will find the same great tasting,affordable food that the “Blue Carabao” has become known for but only in a more comfortable setting.
We hope to see you there soon.
@Francis & Sherry Scott,
We will miss Blue Carabao! But if we do come near your new location close to Magsaysay Park, we will visit you there. 🙂
