Sbarro Opens at Abreeza Mall Davao June 1, 2012
After Sbarro opened it’s first branch in Davao at SM City in Ecoland last March 16 in time for Araw ng Dabaw, we have been waiting for it to open a second branch in Abreeza Mall which is actually more convenient for us.
When I asked a staff of Sbarro SM Davao last month when it will open in Abreeza, he said it will be on May 25. When we passed by that day though they were still closed. A friend said they will open in June yet. So we were surprised to find out today June 1, after attending first Friday mass and when we wandered on the restaurant row at the second floor of Abreeza looking for a resto where we could eat lunch, I saw it was already open! Yes at least we don’t have to go to SM anymore if the little boy requests to eat pizza, aside from YC, we have another new choice if we like to eat pizza and pasta plus they also serve a few healthy salad choices.

We ate lunch there and would you be surprised if I say we went back for dinner again this same day to try out the other dishes we have not yet tried. LOL! Yes it was like Sbarro food trip day with my boys. We also ordered desserts by the way at Dulcinea which will be in a different post. Seeing their sweets and pastries made me drool!
Lunch @ Sbarro Abreeza
The photos above were taken during our lunch while the photos below were taken during dinner.
For lunch, I had their Baked Ziti (ziti, mozzarella, romano cheese, ricotta, tomato or alfredo sauce) so-called everyone’s favorite pasta at Sbarro and they are using imported 100% “Semolina” pasta according to them. Half order is at P96 while a whole costs P174. I requested for the creamy white sauce. The ziti there tasted better than the one I had in their SM branch as far as I remember. *wink*
The little boy had Cheese Pizza (P79). He likes Sbarro pizza and if before he scrapes off the topping, now he eats most of it. They have a huge serving and so he smiled upon seeing it was big. Grandioso as Sbarro puts it!
Hubby had Roasted Chicken (oven-roasted ¼ chicken) and Rice with Chicken and Vegetables (rice, chicken chunks, beans, peppers, olives, spices). If you order both that’s P169 but if you only order the roasted chicken it’s P129. You can opt to have it with spaghetti or salad both at P169.
Dinner @ Sbarro Abreeza
We love the Fish Francese (P118), it is breaded cream dory fillet in a lemon butter sauce (bottom right of the 2nd photo collage) which we ordered during dinner. However, it was so delicious that I got dizzy afterwards and it may have been the sauce. Must be the butter? Anyway, I will take it easy on this next time but we like that dish. Delizioso!
I tried the Pinwheel with Half Spaghetti, P104 (center and middle right photo). I requested for white sauce (because I like it) instead of their signature tomato sauce. It turned out tasting like the buttery garlic sauce. I honestly prefer the creamy white sauce that they placed on my Baked Ziti which I ordered for lunch. That white sauce is more delicious for me. Yet I still managed to finish my pasta but not the pinwheel though which I had to take home instead. I was so full already with the pasta alone and the Fish Francese.
As for the drinks, we just had iced lemon tea and lemonade at P41 each. I want to try their raspberry next time.
If you’d like to ask me if the food was good. It is for those who love pasta and pizza at Sbarro. I have learned though after going on food trips for the past few years, in the end it is always to each his own. People have different tastes so to each his own. We like the food and service has been good. I missed Sbarro since we tried them first at Cebu (Ayala Center) and Manila (SM Megamall) during our trips there about five years ago.
We were basically trying out those dishes that I have not tried at Sbarro SM Davao. I think we visited it thrice only mostly when it was still newly opened in March.
Based on our experience, service is better in Sbarro Abreeza. Maybe one factor was that there were really more people during the days following the opening day at their SM Davao branch since it was also the first in Davao and there were more people then who wanted to try out their food now available in Davao. But am not saying that there were not many people at Sbarro Abreeza. During the weekend when they opened in Abreeza, they were also full and some people had to wait. It really did help that the space was bigger especially near the counter. At their SM branch it was a common feedback then that it was really cramped during their first few days and it was really hard to move based on our experience when there are people lining up to order and those who want to pass going in could hardly do so and if you are seated at a table near the counter, well you’d really cannot ignore the people passing by as you eat, others bumping you with their bags as they pass by. *wink*
Good thing it is a little more spacious at the Sbarro Abreeza branch. Service is good and hope they keep it up especially in making quality of the food they serve consistently delizioso and grandioso meaning delicious and big servings all the time!
Hi. We would like to invite you to our Food Fest Weekend on June 15-16, 2012. Where can we deliver the invite? You may email us at poftabunadavao@gmail.com for the information. Thanks and we hope to hear from you soon.
The food your ordered is so tempting. Wish we had Sbarro here in our place too. 🙂
@Emotera, I think they will expand next there in CDO. The manager from Dulcinea (this Sbarro branch and Dulcinea here has the same owner) was heading to CDO if I am not mistaken. So chances are they’ll open Sbarro there as well. 🙂
one of my favorite fast food restos. prices are affordable and the taste is authentic italian. i especially love their meatballs.
@RC Gweniful, it became our fave resto sis to dine in for the first few days since they opened in Abreeza Davao. 🙂
