Fresh Greens Salad of ECHOcafe in the New ECHOstore Davao

Fresh Greens Salad of ECHOcafe in the New ECHOstore Davao became one of my instant fave when we first visited on May 7 the newly opened place which is two days after their soft opening last May 5, 2014.

It’s always a delightful and healthy treat when we’re able to eat healthy, leafy veggies and these are organic. One can do that at the new ECHOcafe Davao with this salad.

This was the first salad we tried in any of their branches in the Philippines and we tried it here in their new store in the city. They have  other healthy salads and other dishes to choose from… just check the Menu of ECHOcafe In ECHOstore Davao City.

The other dish we ordered during our first visit was their Longganisa Pasta of ECHOcafe in the New ECHOstore Davao which you can check out and read about in the link.

They said they use two kinds of lettuce in this particular fresh green salad, namely romaine and corelle. It is the first time that I have heard of corelle as a variety or kind of lettuce. It is a kind of letture with a curly leaf. I can’t help but think of the brand of dinnerware when they said that. When I look at the salad I can think of the Lollo rossa kind of lettuce. I am familiar with romaine and have eaten it many times and bought it a couple of times before in the supermarket.

It also has slices of tomatoes and turnips or singkamas on top plus chopped cashew nuts. We really love the guava balsamic that is simply  perfect by itself as the salad dressing for this. I wish there was just more of the dressing in my salad. Yet we still enjoyed sharing it.

The salad is being served with a slice of garlic butter toast bread which I knew for sure will be eaten by my little guy once he saw it. And he did! Hubby agrees that this simple yet healthy and delicious salad has become his fave as well at ECHOcafe Davao.

I am happy these leafy veggies we’ve eaten at ECHOcafe are said to be organic. The ones I bought in the mall supermarket are probably not, but we could only assume. I do hope they were also organic.

Lately, I as well as many people have been becoming more aware of eating organic and chemical free produce as much as possible.

When you get to my age after a lot of food tripping through the years, you tend to weigh things and go for healthier eating habits given the kind of lifestyle most busy people tend to sway to with all the fast food chains sprouting new branches here and there, as well as more restaurants that serve food that are mostly not really organic.

We have choices on the food we eat. This time, hopefully we in my family get to enjoy and choose more organic and healthy food most of the time though we still tend to sway and give in to eating the not so healthy ones once in awhile.

ECHOcafe Dava has Amarelo Farms in Bukidnon, known for organic and chemical free farm, as their supplier.  We’re happy that in the city now there is a cafe to dine in and at the same time shop for organic produce and healthy food while at the same time supporting and helping sustain our local producers and farmers.
