Kusinero’s at Binggoy’s Gourmet | Sooo Pinoy Food Trip na Pilipinas in Davao City

When you go to Villa Margarita Hotel, you should never miss dining at Binggoy’s Gourmet which is the restaurant named after the husband of Davao Regional Tourism Council chair Mary Ann “Baby” Montemayor. She shared to us that the resto was named after her husband simply because everything in the menu was approved by Binggoy. Ms. Montemayor happens to be one of the organizers of the Mindanao Culinary Festival. Her tuna assortments as they say are one-of-a-kind as she uses traditional ingredients to create gourmet dishes at Binggoy’s.

The restaurant which appears like a small but comfortable, cozy place that gives you a feel of being homey but with fine-dining ambience located at the Villa Margarita Hotel along J.P. Laurel Avenue (near DLPC Plant) in Davao City. It is where one can savor a delectable cuisine with fine food and drinks which are especially prepared for one’s satisfaction.

Binggoy’s is known for fine dining of gourmet dishes from certain distinct local Davao dishes. Chef Gene Gonzales of CACS is the Chef Consultant in Villa Margarita since 1991.

During our visit for the Sooo Pinoy food trip, the Kusineros – an organization of chefs here in Davao, prepared several dishes for us.

Bungos na Bangus by the Kusineros

Chicken and Mushroom Bamboo Rice by the Kusineros

Durian Crepe Cake by the Kusineros… I love durian and this one is delicious!

And here are the gourmet dishes prepared for us by Binggoy’s Gourmet….

Davao Wow Kinilaw… this one is very popular in Binggoy’s according to Ms. Baby as it uses itlog na pula or salted egg, calamansi (lime powder from Unilever) and malasugue.

Adobong Panga… very flavorful! Loved how it tasted. A must try at Binggoy’s.

Pangga Fish Cakes with Pomelo Salsa

Pomelo Salad… with shrimp in a special vinegar concoction.

Tablea Leche Flan… It is my first time to this kind flavor in a leche flan being one of my most favorite dessert. It was a hit and a best seller among the group and some were still looking if there was more of this dessert actually.

Tuna Jaw (Panga) Meat Salad with Davao Mango Dressing

Davao Camote-Durian Roll… the camote taste would come first with the taste of durian at the end. This is an interesting dessert that I would love to eat once again. It is unique and truly delicious! A great way to end our visit in a Davao delicious way!
