Davao Arpochi Seafoods Restaurant
We have already noticed this new seafood restaurant called Davao Arpochi Seafoods Restaurant along Polo Street or more known to others as Palma Gil Street in Barrio Obrero, Davao City about more than two months ago but it was only yesterday that I got a chance to go there for a taste of their food. This restaurant originated in Marbel where they have the Koronadal Arpochi and there is another branch, the Gensan Arpochi.
Last February 26, 2012 they opened up another branch here in Davao City to the delight of those who knew and have tried Arpochi in Marbel and Gensan.
I had a nice chance to taste their sweet and spicy Arpochi crabs, adobo Ilonggo native chicken, sweet and spicy sugpo and their pusit steak yesterday during a food tasting with Ria, Natalie, Rovs and myself.
I like sugpo and it was indeed a nice treat to eat it that we could not resist but eat it with our bare hands so we can easily enjoy eating it along with the crabs which is the specialty of Arpochi. I have heard that their steamed crabs and their adobo Ilonggo native chicken are among the recommended dishes from customers.
If you do dine at Arpochi, it won’t be complete if you don’t eat their sugpo and especially their crabs which they are known for. Both are supplied from Cotabato City according to the owner Mrs. Gloria Espa. The pusit is from Davao. Her elder sister owns the first Arpochi seafood restaurant in Marbel while another sister owns and manages the second branch in General Santos where in both places they have made a name for being a destination for people who love to eat crabs and a few other seafood dishes. For those who may be wondering what Arpochi means, it is a combination of the names Ara, Poging and Chino, the children of one of their sisters.
Davao Arpochi is one choice of destination to dine in when you are in Davao City looking for crabs (steamed or sweet and spicy), prawns (sweet and spicy, steamed or sinigang), squid (pusit steak), native chicken (tinola, deep fried, adobo Ilonggo and Tagalog) and also fish (sinigang or kinilaw). They also serve sotanghon soup, bihon guisado and pancit canton. They also serve fresh fruit shakes – green and ripe mango shake as well as guyabano shake which I have been looking for.
Arpochi is located at Polo Street/Palma Gil Street, Bo. Obrero, Davao City. It is near Global Art, Starr and almost across Brick Lane Square (near Wheels ‘n More). It is now actually occupying the place where CTres (if you are familiar with that old resto) was located.
Call (082) 305 8246 for your reservations and you may order in advance if you plan to dine in at Davao Arpochi. They are open from Monday to Sunday from 10AM to 10PM.
Hope to also have a dinner in this branch next time. We have Arpochi here in Gensan, http://tambay.ph/city-blogs/gensan-arpochi-seafoods-and-restos-bestseller-steamed-sweet-and-spicy-crabs/, and really Arpochi’s foods are great! Thanks for sharing, it makes me crave for another king-sized steamed sweet and spicy crabs..
