Blue Post has long been known in Davao City as a Bar & Billiards place. Now it relaunches itself to become a dining destination wherein they are proud to reinvent the crab and shrimp experience ‘into something more primal and unforgettable’ as they would put it.
Owned by Anthony and Jennifer Ang of the AA group of Companies that also includes the Max’s and Antonio’s restaurants, Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps is a concept inspired from the famous Boiling Crab in the US.
They want the seafood lovers and diners in Davao City to have a new dining concept which is “messy-finger licking” where dining guests will eat crabs and shrimps using their hands, and doing away with the formality of using fork and spoon and there will be no plates too since food served will be spread on a clean white sheet of paper covering the table. Check out one of my photos and you’ll see what I mean.
The resto encourages people to enjoy the Filipino “kamay-kainan” way of dining letting diners enjoy cracking and peeling the shells off like you are dining at the comfort of your own home. They do provide the crab cracker. They have provided a wash area so you can wash your hands clean before your fun and delicious dining experience at Boiling Crabs and Shrimps.
Blue Post serves their fresh succulent crabs and shrimps in a food grade boiling bag which is mixed with their very own Cajun Special Sauce tempered to the diner’s tolerance with choices for regular, mild spicy, or extra spicy! Then boiled together in the bag and served steaming hot into the table.
See some photos I took using my iPhone cam only during our first visit there during a pre-opening dinner event.
Garlic Fried Crab
Boiling Shrimps
Hot & Spicy Mussels
Garlic Fried Tuna… a personal fave that I recommend to fish lovers out there.
Fried Chicken Wings
For dessert, this is their own version of halo-halo!
I like the nice interior of the restaurant and the decors instantly gives you an idea that it’s a seafood place to go to for those who loves crabs and shrimps!
Diners will be asked to go through an easy three-step method to get the perfect mix:
Step 1: Seafood selection – crab, shrimp, mussel or all mixed up.
Step 2: Cooking preference – Blue Posts boil or garlic fried.
STEP 3: Spicy indulgence for Cajun Special Sauce – regular, mild, hot & spicy.
Add-ons for extra taste: corn on the cob, sausage, potato.
We had a chance to try the dishes of this new resto last December 2, 2013 thanks to Ms. Marissa Tionko’s invite. She co-hosted the event along with the COO of AA Group of Companies, Mr. Emmanuel Matuco, who is a very familiar face to us. Grateful to him and his brother who were good Samaritans who helped us when my husband had a medical emergency during Holy Week this year. It was nice meeting him again during this event and glad he is now based in Davao to be with his family. See you around Sir!
We enjoyed our dining experience and the food they served us were delicious. My husband liked the extra spicy while I chose the mild spicy as I am still trying out on spicy dishes. My lil boy and I specially loved their garlic fried tuna. We loved it! Aside of course from the shrimps and crab we’ve tasted.
There are other dishes their diners can expect such as grilled seafood, steaks, kinilaw, garlic pork belly and burger. They also have a unique version of halo-halo that’s quite different from the one’s I’ve tried before. You try it and tell me what you think.
Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps is located along J.P. Laurel Avenue, Bajada, Davao City near Davao City Water District and the fruit stands on your way to SM Lanang Premier. You may reach them for reservations or inquiries at telephone number (082) 221 8360.
