Something to Lick About: Barquillos + Ice Cream = LickSticks

Earlier today, we just noticed two teens, a girl and a boy,  going away this new food cart in the second floor of SM Lanang Premier carrying what we eventually learned are called LickSticks. They opened there last January 18, 2014.

What are they? Simply put they are : Barquillos + Ice Cream = LickSticks.

I love barquillos. There was a time before when this is what I usually buy in the grocery or ask for pasalubong for those traveling from Cebu back to Davao. Though we do have local makers of barquillos in Davao for quite a long time already. I like the taste of barquillos. I could eat a whole pack by myself. And another pack after that…

Barquillos are thin rolled wafer of Spanish origin. It is also a well-known pasalubong in Western Visayas. Thin wafers rolled into a tubular shape and cooked until the wafer becomes light brown in color. It is usually paired with cold desserts like ice cream.

Simply choose your ice cream flavor – choco or vanilla ice cream – to put in the tip of their signature home-made barquillos. The taste of ice cream is supposed to complement and add to the flavor. Then add the topping of your choice – choco syrup or rainbow sprinkles.

The bigger LickSticks costs P25 and the smaller one costs P15 if I am not mistaken.

They already have several branches around the Philippines. The last one they opened before this one in Davao is in SM City CDO.

I found their website – http://licksticksicecream.com, Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/licksticks, Instagram @licksticksph, Twitter – twitter.com/mylicksticks.

Have you tried LickSticks? How was it? Let me know by leaving a comment below.
