Hokkaido Cake | The French Baker at SM Lanang Premier in Davao
This is The French Baker’s new Hokkaido Cake which is a light, airy and buttery sponge cake with a rich creamy center with a cream filling inside. The sponge cake is so light and it makes me think of it as a delicate soufflé. Its creamy filling is a touch of French vanilla. It was introduced last December 7, 2012 and was first launched in Malaysia.
Now, Anchor and French Baker have brought the famous Hokkaido Cake to Manila as the first product of the Cakes of the World line. Fonterra Brands through Anchor Cream and Anchor Butter bring the top quality ingredients to the masterful kitchens and ovens of French Baker to create this sure favorite. These luxurious Hokkaido cakes are filled with the pure dairy goodness of Anchor Cream, one of the New Zealand’s finest ingredients that bring out the cake’s rich flavour. – The French Baker
The Hokkaido Cake’s rich creaminess as it is described is said to be inspired by the soft, picturesque snow-dusted scenes of Japan, and we got to enjoy it from The French Baker during the holiday season. It costs P65 each while a box of 5 costs P295 which will save you P30.
After digging in the middle… here is just a snap I took to give you an idea of what’s inside the rich, creamy center.
It would be more delicious to eat when it is freshly baked. It is not as sweet as I thought it would be. This Japanese inspired chiffon pastry can be a light dessert after a delicious meal.
The French Baker in Davao City is located beside Chatime (both opened at the same time on Christmas day last December 25, 2012) at the Atrium area in the ground floor underneath Starbucks Coffee at SM Lanang Premier. I just heard from one of the staff that the owner of The French Baker Inc. is John Lu. I searched online, she must have meant Mr. John Lu Go Koa, founder and CEO of the company. One of his young entrepreneur nephews manages Chatime.
