Sooo Pinoy Food Trip na Pilipinas in Davao City at Dencio’s Kamayan
The epic and week-long Sooo Pinoy Food Trip na Pilipinas in their Davao City leg started off at Dencio’s Kamayan at their branch located at corner Fortune Homes, Lanang, Davao City.
The gastronomic adventure of this epic Davao food trip began with the Ribs Espesyal at Dencio’s which is among their bestsellers and definitely a must try when you dine with your family and friends at Dencio’s.
It was really juicy and delicious. It was grilled just the way I like it in my own humble opinion and most people love it so that is why they keep coming back to Dencio’s. It is one of the best pork ribs served in Davao City.
The signature Chicken Barbecue is usually part of the orders of people dining at any branch of Dencio’s Kamayan.
Families or people dining as a big group can enjoy aside from the Ribs Espesyal, their Sari-Sari Espesyal which is their platter of various grilled meat items. They also offer local specialties such as grilled panga (tuna jaw), sizzling bangus belly, grilled squid, and grilled tuna belly. Davao has an abundant supply of seafood so most people coming here to visit also order their Filipino seafood dishes as well.
They also have the sizzling pork sisig, a favorite appetizer or pampagana as well among regular customers of Dencio’s.
Other Filipino favorites that are also commonly sought after here are the crispy pata or deep fried pork leg, and the kare-kare which is a stew made with peanut sauce, some vegetables, oxtail and beef. Yummy and just mentioning these two traditional Filipino dishes makes me crave for them at this moment!
Dencio’s Kamayan in Davao City started way back in 1998 and had been a known restaurant since when you look for one in this city which is known for tasty and affordable Filipino food. It has been a known restaurant since that is serving Filipino dishes especially grilled food at affordable prices.
We have been regular customers way back then when they opened up at SM Davao basically because it’s affordable and food served are delicious. Plus their unlimited rice promo also is one thing that make people go for this resto especially way back then they are among the first, as far as I can remember, of the many Filipino restaurants in the city which has made that a part of their promo offer to their valued and loyal customers.
As I remember one of our fave have been their Pares meals which is what they call their budget meals particularly their bestseller then that has a serving of delicious and juicy grilled spare ribs as delicious as the Ribs Espesyal and juicy pork barbeque plus not to forget the unlimited rice with atsara and a bowl of soup. I think they also have what is called Sulit Tipid Meals that costs from P65-P90. Indeed we can say then, “Sulit na, sarap pa.”
Their signature pork barbecue and grilled spare ribs combine most of the locals’ preference for sweet and salty flavors as they would say it. They serve it usually in a rectangle wooden plate that is covered with dahon ng saging (banana leaf). This is also a known Filipino restaurant in Davao where it is indeed more fun to eat with your hands (mga kamay) hence it is called Kamayan. Eating with food served with dahon ng saging and the kamayan makes it more fun and indeed more so Pinoy!
Dencio’s Kamayan has six branches in all, four of which are in Davao City namely in SM City, NCCC Mall, Market Basket at Damosa Gateway in Lanang and at the corner of Fortune Homes in Lanang also. I now have gone to all four branches in the city except for their two other branches which are located in Tagum City at the National Highway and in General Santos City at the KCC Mall. Many of us will always remember their old Dencio’s sa Hilltop branch which was then a very known branch of Dencio’s to many tourists in the city and locals as well way back then.
