Mamma Maria’s Pizzeria Davao
Last week, we finally were able to try out this new pizza place in Davao – Mamma Maria’s Pizzeria which we have passed through several times. So when we got hungry after coming from the lil boy’s school, we decided to try out this new place which I first thought was only located in Gensan. I was mistaken for it has a branch just near our area here in Davao.
It is said to be the home of the biggest pizza in the world – 63 inches which are available in Bacolod and General Santos. They have 27 different pizza flavors with 6 pizza sizes:8-single size, 11-regular size, 15-family size, 21 inch-XL family size, 30 inch-XXL party size pizza and their 63 inch pizza. They also offer pasta and combo meals and party packages good for 20, 40 and 70 people with price ranging from P1,690 to P6,990.
The place was full that mid afternoon we went there and we had to wait until a table was available inside since it was too hot for our lil boy if we eat in one of their tables outside. I think the place is almost always full from what I heard and read so far.
We asked the waiter what their best sellers are and he can recommended Fantastico – meat lovers (tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, meatballs, pork tenderloin, ham and salami. We ordered the family size 15 inches with 8 slices supposedly good for 4 to 6 people. We were 2 and a half! It was good for my very hungry tummy then that still had no lunch that time. It reminds me of the pizza of another older pizza house here in Davao in K1 -Eduardo’s which also serves large size of pizza in Davao (36 inches is their biggest if I remember it right).
Since one of my fave is Calzone, I tried their single serving that costs P79 per slice. It was still delicious even if it was a lot thinner than that of Picobello. And I noticed too that their filling was kind of “juicy” or can I say not that cooked yet but still I enjoyed it.
This new pizzeria in Davao is still worth a try and so far the place is still full till now from what I heard from a friend. They still don’t have a delivery service as far as we know as of last week. But we can always go here anytime since it is just near our place. They have free WIFI by the way and I was able to surf, browse and look for cheap insurance companies where I can canvass for an insurance for a friend which has been in my to do list since the start of this year. I get to check and post an update on my Facebook. So while you wait for your pizza to be served since it takes awhile for them given the amount of orders that they get when the place is full, you can always do your surfing and browsing in the internet.

we ate there yesterday and was quite disappointed.
they didnt taste authentic italian as they claimed in the slogan
the bolognese tasted like pinoy spaghetti with dried basil
they sell the parmesan cheese instead of having it as a condiment, plus it was served on a plate instead of a saucer or small bowl
the taco pizza didnt have nacho chips as they claimed on the menu but it had granny goose tortilla chips, i saw the one preparing it thru the counter crushing the chips
the meatlovers pizza was just ok
i went there on a week day it was full… people were all lining up. i told myself wow this must be good. i ordered 2 regular sized pizza… they told me i had to wait for 45mins. So i told them il just take out the pizza. So i waited… and WAITED and WAITED… it took them around 1hr- 1.15hrs to serve me the 2 pizza i ordered. I bought the pizza home in just 5 mins the pizza was COLD and there was no QUALITY with the pizza. then i realize there is a reason why the lines are long and or why the place is always full it’s because it takes 45mins to wait for them to cook/serve the pizza! while i was waiting for the pizza to be serve the turnover of the people in the resto was very slow. when i left the place the people inside were the ones inside when i came in the place… thus resulting to a jam packed place. IT WAS CRAPPY! the quality and the ingredients were awful….
NEVER again! NEVER EVER again! people who goes to Mamma MArias will NEVER come back! im sure of it!
is that true? i just heard about mammma marias yesterday from my friend coz she told me that the place was full like what you have sed a lot of people were lining up so 1st thing that comes into my mind is that maybe the pizzas are delicious and i planned to try their pizza nextwik BUT after i read your comments i was discouraged. i think i would prefer to go to CALDA pizza.
i agree with the comments of Mark
I had a somewhat similar experience with him. At least now they tell their customers to wait 45mins. when me and my 2 friends went there (around 2 weeks ago), they never told us we had to wait 45mins. But since we were already there, we just waited and passed the time talking.
when the pizza finally arrived (it was more than an hour already), we started eating and felt like it wasn’t enough so we made an additional order of one more. still there was no mention on how long we had to wait.
after we finished our pizza, we still talked awhile and finally when we were ready to go, the pizza was still not there so we asked for its status and were shocked to hear that it hadn’t even been started yet. so we just cancelled our order paid the bill and left.
worse, they gave a flier for a website so I checked it out (http://www.discoverypizzaplanet.com). I was hoping to get much much more info from that site and maybe even a feedback page. but sadly there was none.
I was even willing to give them one more chance by ordering delivery (since their flier did say they deliver). this was 2 days after we ate there. the phone was not available (the number is not accessible please try again later). this went on for like an hour so gave up. Still, I wanted to give yet another chance so the next day, I called up again, this time I got through but again disappointed since they still don’t deliver.
And so, this place is now off my list. I wont be coming back to this place ever again. crappy service, mediocre taste, false advertising.
are the prices of Mama Maria’s the same with the pizzas served at Calda’s Pizza??
@iamsimplyana,
I think Calda is cheaper, IMO.
Calda is more expensive but the quality is much much better!! and the taste and the ingridients! much better than Mamma Maria’s! well worth your money ang CALDA!
@foodlover,
I compared the menu of Mamma Maria’s and Calda based on the price list we got during our visits to these pizza places. Based on their family size pizzas, there are some flavors in which Calda may be more expensive but there are also flavors in which Mamma Maria’s is more expensive.
I agree with you based on our experience that Calda is better and that is just our opinion. I think it is to each his own depending on one’s food trip experience. 🙂
I like Mamma Maria’s though kasi they have free wifi!
i agee with that…….totoo nga laging nakasiangot yang cashier na payat panit talaga malas sa negosyo………… thnks at my calda
wala silang wifi..mag thank you dapat kayo sa sychar for that free connection
@late snacker, thank you for pointing that out! *wink* Mamma Maria should indeed be grateful to Sychar for the free wifi that their customers can use. 🙂
honestly, their food is TOLERABLE but their staff needs a major orientation on customer service…super mkalagot..naay mu-take ug order na kontra-gusto…imagine, 10 mi kabuok, isa ka tao lng iyang pangutan-on..**** man diay na…human paghatag sa plato ug utensils, gitapok lng..unsa na?!! disgusto mu-trabaho…********…
never again!!!
mamma maria’s pizzeria is very good and cheap…very tasty. i think they have to charge parmesan because after all, their prices are already very low. mamma maria’s want to make pizza available to all levels. more parmesan, more pay. more cheese, more pay. more service, more pay.
..i ganun..guzto q p nman sanang i.celebr8 yong birthday q don ngayon..
…tr8 q sana mga friendz q…
..haizzzz
mali pud akong impression sa mamma marias. The pizza’s are not that bad, kaso dili lang worth the wait ug kwarta. ok lang unta kung medyo barato. Maayo pa mag pizzahut.
Tried Mama marias pizza with my family…ok naman pizza nila masarap din but I agree with the other comments medyo Hindi professional Mga staff nila and the wait is too long..maybe because the place is always full..haven’t tried Calda pizza though, will try it soon!
@ latesnacker.. hahaha.. cool!
Hahaaayyyyy… buti na lang di ganyan ang mga staff ng Mama Marias – gensan…
Who had tried their carbonara??? yun ang fave ko dito…
with the mexicana hot…
i guess mamma maria’s gets its wi-fi sa sychar hotel para makatipid?
Grabe! Service is not good! Biruin mo nag advance na kami ng 500p for reservation and we’re waiting for 1 1/2 hour sa labas ng restaurant nila sa GMALL Davao bago kami nakapasok after naka upo na kami me pumasok isang grupo then sinabihan kami ng waitress na me naka reserve na daw sa table namin yun isang grupo na bago lamang dumating,so blah2x going on na, then ask namin sa cashier na buntis na na sino pala ang nauna? Then she replied, “kayo po mam pero kayo na lang magsabi sa kanila na kayo ang naka reserve una kasi ayaw nilang mag give way.” Shocking!!! Ibig sabihin ng cashier kami ang maki pag away sa grupo na yun na dapat sya ang mag sabi na naka reserve na kami ng una at ise serve na nga yun pizza namin kasi luto na.So ginawa namin umalis na lang kami (8 person),get our money at pumunta ng GREENWICH.Better more train your staff baka mawalan kayo ng costumer.
