Davao Gourmet Collective: Kadayawan Food and Music Fair 2015 in Photos
One of the events in time for this year’s Kadayawan Festival was the Davao Gourmet Collective series called Kadayawan Food and Music Fair 2015.
We had a Preview of Davao Gourmet Collective Kadayawan Food and Music Fair on August 21-23 last August 1, 2015.
It opened officially in the afternoon of August 21 and ran until August 23, a Sunday and the last day of the Kadayawan Festival in Davao City. It was a nice long Kadayawan weekend for foodies and foodtrippers in the city. Mr. Russel Alaba, Assistant Vice President for Marketing for SM Malls in Mindanao, welcomed the guests, purveyors, mall goers, shoppers, families and foodies who even came earlier before it officially opened to see what is truly in store for them in this DGC Kadayawan 2015.

I took this shot on the second night while I could hear Up Dharma Down playing at the fountain court area.
Glad to see the number and flow of people who came to this particular DGC event consistently for three days.
Among all the DGC that we personally have been to since it started in 2013, this is probably the best in terms of crowd of foodies who came to enjoy and dine with their friends and family.
While we may have missed the Kadayawan events on the streets this year and in the recent years, we tried to enjoy it this year through food and music.
Love how the DGC area in the fountain court were filled with people as early as in the afternoon when they open at 4PM, there were already people waiting as early as 3PM for the purveyors stalls to start serving their food and specialties.
More people came in at dinner time and it is a long weekend so families and friends are out to enjoy and bond over fun, food, music after shopping.
Congrats to the DGC purveyors and SM Lanang Premier!
More photos below of the 3-day DGC…
Spotted Ms. Annie Cacho Garcia on the first day of DGC at her Bon Crepes station.
She was hands on busy doing the crepes herself at Bon Crepes.
Ms Annie is serious at her job yet enjoying the event…
My little guy ordered what they called Paradise crepe if I remember it right. This crepe was filled with chocolate and bits of fresh mangoes.
My little guy finished this crepe in no time.
I just went around a little taking photos and by the time I came back shortly to our table, he left me just one cut square slice and said “Mama this is for you. I know you want to taste it.” Sweet! For moms like me, it is the thought that really counts.
Ms. Carmina Mapa-Del Rosario known as The Crazy Cook and head of the DGC purveyors has her delicious and tasty sates that we tried.
Her staff allowed us to have a sampler of three sates chicken, pork and bacon. LOVE her peanut sauce that adds more flavor to the delicious sates.
The Don Durian Lechon Manok and Liempo is also part of this DGC.
Don Durian is the better half of The Crazy Cook if I may put it that way… Mr. Raffy Del Rosario or Don Durian in his Instagram account is the husband of Ms. Carmina.
Their lechon liempo is one of the bestsellers during the night we went there and had our dinner with my boys. Their lechon liempo reminds me of our fave liempo from Cebu.
But Don Durian’s version takes it to a step higher in terms of taste and the look of the liempo as it is served…
Then it can get hot during the Kadayawan weekend and these Stellina’s Lemonade drinks are perfect refreshers to quench our thirst for a healthy drink too.
They got sold out already before the second night with their all their stocks that came from Manila. Stellina’s is one of the two Manila based purveyors that joined this particular DGC.
I was able to buy the old fashioned lemonade drink which I prefer between the two flavors.
While our good friend who was also there with family, gave me her Pinko Lemonade with Cranberry. Thanks Nat! Nice seeing her family once again too.
For dessert, I tried Osvaldo’s Muddiest Pie (P150). The topping made it more of a sinful indulgence.
Spotted other food at the Davao Gourmet Collective:
Cafe El Gato’s Whisky Maple Ribs
El Gato’s Pineapple Honey Glazed Sesame Chicken
These goodies from JR Pastry: Cream Cheese Brownies…
… and White Chocolate Macadamia Cookies.
Plus these Cheese Pimiento Spread from the Fat Mama’s Kitchen.
Carmela’s other goodies on display aside from their now popular Enzayms.
Classio Mobile Wood-Fired Oven Pizza was also part of this DGC…
Saw them busy making many of these pizza over the DGC weekend.
Not to be missed is Soul Kitchen Co’s healthy food offers including my fave chunky chicken cream wrap, and their salad wraps. They also had Orzo Caprese Warm Salad and Baked Moroccan Chicken.
*** As with their DGC Kadayawan Music Fair… ***
The TechyRomantics performed during the first night on August 21.
Up Dharma Down gathered a big crowd of UDD fans in Davao in SM Lanang on the second night last August 22 also being a Saturday on a 4-day long weekend here in the city for 2015 Kadayawan Festival.
This is the highlight for us in their music fair.
We have seen UDD perform here in SM Lanang and in other venues in the city over the years.
We hope to see and hear their music more from them in the coming years.
Armi Millare, lead vocalist of the UDD or Up Dharma Down, a popular band that many Davaoenos love and the band that loves Davao City back. Follow them @UDDOfficial.
We missed the music fair performances on the last night of the fair.
Overall this was a successful Davao Gourmet Collective event! Kudos the DGC event organizer, purveryors, and SM Lanang Premier who worked hard for this event!
Looking forward to the next #DavaoGourmetCollective this coming holiday season.
