Green Coffee Opens Newest Branch in Davao City

Davao’s home grown Green Coffee opened their newest branch along J.P. Laurel Avenue near Palm Drive, and across  Rivera Village entrance and the Delta Residences (the first mixed-use development of Robinsons Land) here in Davao City.

In their Facebook page, the original announced opening date  of this newest branch was February 28 but was moved a few days later to March 5, 2014. We were happy with the new date, for we could go check it out together since hubby is free from work during that time unlike in its original opening date.

So we headed out to the new branch on the afternoon of its opening date hoping there won’t be too many people. In our hurry to try to catch up with the opening that afternoon for a sneak peek of the new place especially of their alfresco area before going to church to attend the Ash Wednesday mass, we left our camera since hubby was still charging the sony camera battery. We both forgot about it and just remembered when we arrived there to see this rather bigger crowd of people than I expected lining up outside the new coffee shop.

Just took these photos with my iPhone cam which has been what I have been using for the past few months since our dslr is on ‘indefinite rehab’ until we get it fixed.

We crossed the street and after a few minutes looking at this long line of people who availed of their opening promo of ‘Piso for any beverage of your choice for the first 100 customers’ and the line didn’t seem to be moving, we decided that we will  just come back later.

We came back that night after having dinner after the mass. The big crowd of people earlier was already gone and there were just a few people inside. Most of the people we met at the door were their staff.

Here is a collage of the photos I snapped as we initially made a quick tour around the new GC store.

What I immediately noticed upon entering is that this branch is well lighted compared to the one in Torres.

We went up to the second floor. I wish the alfresco area there gives customers a better and bigger view of the street below. The idea of this area is like a mini forest.

They still don’t have WIFI at that time. I dunno but I had a feeling of wanting to leave after seeing the place and satisfying my curiosity on what it looked like. I decided stay though and give their drinks another chance and see if they tasted better.

In as much as I wanted to eat something there, I just decided to skip it since we were all still full from our dinner earlier. I’ll try some of these pastries and goodies for dessert on our next visit probably when school is over.

For our drinks, I ordered their Mango Ice blended for my little kid. It tasted good. Actually better than I expected and so we enjoyed sharing this drink with my kid who really loves mango shake and juice.

We also ordered their Fine Salt and Cheese milk tea which the cashier said is their best seller among their fine salt and cheese drinks. It has actually been what we usually ordered when we had a few visits before in their Torres branch. Now, I wish it tasted better like what I remembered it to be the very first time I tasted it in Torres when it was still new in their menu way back then. Given I paid its P150 full price, I tried to understand why it was even more diluted in taste now than the last time we tried it in Torres and could have just ignored it if it was only piso as for their opening promo that day. Yet I drank it to the last drop just to make the most of what I paid. Now I know I’d order the ice blended drinks instead and no more FSC MT for us. *wink*

What I always remember of my fine salt and cheese milk tea drink is finding a tea bag at the bottom. Something I know in Davao is only from a Green Coffee experience.

These are their Blueberry ensaymada as I remember it to be. It is one of their bestsellers I heard. I remember someone who really love these particular ensaymadas.

GREEN COFFEE officially started brewing their coffee on May 11, 2011 at the Prime Square, F. Torres here in Davao City. It is just across Yoh Froz and Let’s Crab Eat both located at the Autoville Compound in Torres Street.

December 15, 2011 they opened their second store in Tomas Morato, Quezon City.

They also opened another outlet in SM Lanang Premier near the cinemas that opened in 2012. They posted about three months ago in their Twitter account “This coming 2014, our store in SM Lanang Premier will be transferred to a BIGGER & BETTER location.” People are guessing it will be somewhere in the SM Lanang fountain court area. Well I think that would be a better place so that customers will have a better view and of the outdoors while they enjoy their coffee or drinks. I even thought that this new branch in Bajada is the one they’re referring to. Well let’s see where they transfer at SM Lanang this year.

They also opened in SM City Davao main mall last November 2013.

What comes in mind of this coffee shop is that they are open 24/7 in Torres even on holidays. The only one in the city I could think of except those coffee shops in the hotels maybe.

This new branch in Bajada will also be open 24/7. So when their free wifi will be working in this new store, expect more people hanging out there practically even in the wee hours of the morning.
