Alor’s A Home Kitchen | Davao Restaurant

We have been seeing this still rather new restaurant in town called Alor’s A Home Kitchen beside Yummy Chicken and Pasta Haus along Torres Street, Davao City.  They opened late December 2010.

Finally tonight after being undecided on where to go for dinner with the boys, we decided to give this new resto a try since I really wanted to eat in a new place we’ve never eaten before. After waiting for the little boy to wake up from his nap, we headed out to Alor’s around eight in the evening. There weren’t too many people inside. Only four tables were occupied. But as we waited for our food to be served, more people came in.

I was craving for shrimps actually something like the sizzling gambas of Ahfat or the delicious gambas ala jillo of Tiny Kitchen which I have tasted for the first time just a few days ago. So I went for their Shrimp Gratin (P275) – shrimps in spicy marinara sauce topped with cheese sauce. It was good. I just wish the size of the shrimps would be as big, juicy and fresh as the ones served in TK, just my own opinion. The marinara sauce somehow reminded me of something else. Good thing there’s cheese sauce. Overall it was good enough for me who was really hungry then.

Hubby ordered Fish Florentine (P185) – baked dory with spinach and shallot cream sauce. We love to order various fish dishes that uses dory whenever it is available in the restaurant we are eating. Hubby loved this dish and I liked it too. Having spinach there was something new to me. It made me think of Pop Eye! LOL! Just being silly but I know it makes the food healthy so we ate it anyway.

As for the little boy, we ordered Chicken Cordon Bleu (P245) for him since it’s the closest choice of chicken dish that the little boy might like. It is dish with two pieces of lightly breaded chicken breast with ham and cheese served with pasta. Actually, our little boy liked the thin, toasted bread that they served with cheese pimiento as complimentary for their customers. At least you have something to eat when you’re hungry and waiting for food to be served.

According to the waiter who served us, he remembered us as regular customers of Gerry’s Grill and that somehow caught us by surprise that he knew us. He said that the owners of Alor’s also owns Gerry’s Grill and Yummy’s. That’s according to him when we asked about Alor’s. He was a kind waiter and their service was good. We did not wait long for our food. Surprisingly their serving time was quite fast. we also appreciate it that they also gave us another serving of that thin toasted bread that the little boy liked since he was not in the mood to eat pasta tonight.
